Vegas awaits A&M Women’s Basketball

Normal – The Lady Bulldogs basketball team is participating in the World Vision Classic hosted by the University of Nevada at Las Vegas this week. A&M will face the Fighting Irish of Norte Dame on Wednesday, December 19that 3 p.m. PT/5 p.m. CT.

In their last contest the Maroon and White fell short to the Racers of Murray State 69-54, Sunday afternoon in the CFSB Center. Junior forward Jasmine Sanders led the Bulldogs in scoring in both games last weekend, coming off the bench to tally 15 points at Memphis, then earning a spot in the lineup at Murray State and collecting 18 points.

Sanders, currently leads AAMU in scoring with 9.8 points per game and a field goal percentage of 51%. She is second on the squad with 4.4 rebounds per game. Junior guard Alyssa Strickland is second on the team in scoring averaging with 8.2 points per contest and tops in three-point percentage with 37%. Senior center NaDra Robertson adds a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game.

Notre Dame is ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls.

Notre Dame and Alabama A&M not only will be playing for the first time in women's basketball, but it will be the first time the two schools have met in intercollegiate competition in any sport.
