Lady Bulldogs fall to No. 5 Notre Dame

LAS VEGAS - Five Fightin Irish players scored in double figures to defeat the Lady Bulldogs 100-39, in the World Vision Classic, on Wednesday afternoon in the Cox Pavilion, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jasmine Sanders led A&M with a game high 10 points and six rebounds. Sanders shot four for ten from the field, while shooting 100% from the free throw line going two for two. Alyssa Strickland scored nine points and dished out an assist.
A&M started the game down two until a Jasmine Sanders jumper tied the score. A&M’s Ebony Johnson kept the game close at the 16:26 mark with a 15 footer cutting the Irish lead to three.

Head coach Altherias Warmley stated, “Our shots were falling in the first half, we have to continue to make good shot selections.”

Notre Dame went into halftime leading A&M 45-24.

In the first half the Maroon and White shot 34 percent from the field, but were perfect from the free throw line shooting two for two.

In the second half ND’s Cable Madison went three for four from downtown to extend the lead to 67-32 with 12:02 left.
The Maroon and White had 12 points in the paint to ND’s 50 and were outrebounded 49 to 27.

For the game AAMU shot 27 percent from the field, while shooting a game low 20 percent from behind the arc. However, the free throw shooting was impressive as Warmley’s squad shot 75 percent from the charity stripe.

The Irish was led by Kayla McBride with 16 points. McBride went seven for 11, from the field. The All-American Skylar Diggins went five of six and was perfect from the charity stripe going four for four.

AAMU will face tournament host UNLV on day two of the World Vision Classic on Thursday, December 20th at 12:30 p.m.
