Lady Bulldogs fall in final game of World Vision Classic

LAS VEGAS – The Alabama A&M women's basketball team lost their eighth straight game of the season on Friday afternoon in the World Vision Classic at the Cox Pavilion as Old Dominion defeated A&M 75-46.

The Lady Bulldogs had double-digit scoring performances from junior Jasmine Sanders with 12, Alyssa Strickland had 11 points and NaDra Robertson finished the afternoon with 10.

The Lady Monarchs came out the block scoring 10 unanswered points in the opening stanza. AAMU was able to cut the lead to nine points with 12:48 to play, but ODU (8-2) proved to be too much for the Maroon & White from the outside.

Robertson and Sanders both scored in double figures for the fourth time this season.

The Lady Bulldogs (1-8) fought back late in the first half cutting the deficit to 23-15 with 9:29 to play.  ODU then went on a 15-7 run to take a 41-22 lead at intermission.

The Lady Monarchs finished with a 22-10 advantage in the paint and an 8-0 advantage in fast break points.
The Lady Bulldogs shot 30 percent 16-of-52 from the floor, and was just 1-of-10 from three-point land. They were 13-of-15 at the free-throw line for 86 percent.

A&M won the rebounding battle 49-31, and forced ODU into nine turnovers for the afternoon.

Head coach Altherias Warmley and her squad will take Christmas off then welcome Austin Peay University to Elmore gymnasium on Saturday, December 29th. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
