Bulldogs fall to Arkansas 95-68 Saturday evening

Box Score

Little Rock – The fastest 40 minutes of basketball was too much for the Bulldogs to handle Saturday evening in the Verizon Center as A&M fell 95-68 to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

“We knew how they were going to play coming in,” said head coach Willie Hayes.  ”I’m glad we played this game because this is the way I want our team to play.  We want to play 40 minutes of action every time we hit the court.”

The Bulldogs (3-7) pulled to within 41-34 late in the first half, but Arkansas scored the final 10 points of the half. The Razorbacks pulled away in the second half, building a lead of 35 points.

Demarquelle Tabb scored 15 points for Alabama A&M before fouling out early in the second half.  It was the first time this season Tabb fouled out of a contest.

“They capitalize on our turnovers, by making easy baskets,” Hayes recalled.  “They were very active throughout the game with their hands.  There were a lot of swipes after rebounds.”

Arkansas capitalized on the Bulldogs turnovers scoring 21 points off 14 Bulldog turnovers in the first. They were able to clean up the mistakes and only committed four in the second half.

The Hogs opened the second half with a 23-8 run. The Razorbacks and the Bulldogs would trade baskets for the remainder of the contest as the Hogs led the rest of the way, closing out the game with a final score of 95-68.

The Maroon & White were out-scored 54-24 in the paint, 20-16 in second chance points, and 43-15 in bench scores.
Arkansas was led by Marshawn Powell who scored 20 points. BJ

Young added 13 points and Coty Clarke 10 for the Razorbacks (7-4), who had 12 players score and snapped a three-game losing streak at the Verizon Arena.

The Bulldogs were led by Jeremy Crutcher with 16 points and four assists.  In 22 minutes of action Demarquelle Tabb added 15 points and six rebounds while G. A Hill finished with 12.

A&M will take a few days off for Christmas then return to prepare for their final non-conference competition versus their third SEC opponent Mississippi State University on Sunday, December 30th at 3 p.m.
