Box Score Game 1

Game 2

NORMAL – The A&M baseball team split with Savannah State University on Saturday, April 14th, in a 5-2 loss and a 4-0 win on the first day of their four game series.

Alabama A&M (7-29) totaled seven hits in the nine inning affair that saw seven different Bulldogs collect a hit in the game.

SSU took a 3-0 lead before the Maroon & White scored a run in the sixth and seventh inning. The Tigers posted two more runs in the top of the eighth to extend their lead and eventually earn their 12th victory on the year.

A&M left seven runners on base but was able to score their two runs when Brandyn Crutcher scored on a Norbert Riggins single.  The other run came in the top of the seventh when Jordan Friend reached home plate off of Dylan Johnson’s only connection of the game.

Josh Freeman went seven innings and earned his sixth loss of the year giving up eight hits and three runs.

The second game of the day saw one inning of scoring.  Fortunately it was all A&M who, with bases loaded, saw senior James Brown come to the plate and hit a shot down the left field line to score Chris Thomas for the first run of the game.  Brandyn Crutcher then hit his fourth triple of the year and cleared the bases giving A&M a 4-0 lead and eventually their seventh victory in 2012.

Ryan Bowling went all seven innings earning his second win of the season giving up only three hits and striking out four after facing 24 batters.

A&M and Savannah State will complete the series on Sunday, April 15th at Bulldog field beginning at noon.
