Bulldogs fall to Auburn 7-1

Box Score NORMAL – The A&M baseball team fell to Auburn University 7-1 on Wednesday night in front of 1,829 in attendance. The loss gives AAMU a 8-31 record on the year with a three game series against Mississippi Valley on the horizon this weekend.

Dylan Johnson had a hot bat for the Bulldogs. Johnson went 1-3 and scored one run. He doubled in the eighth inning.

Trey Cochran-Gill got the win for Auburn. He allowed one run over six innings. The Auburn pitcher struck out seven, walked two and surrendered three hits.

Auburn never trailed after scoring three runs in the first on an RBI double by Cullen Wacker and a two-run home run by Ryan Tella.

Auburn tacked on another three runs in the third. Creede Simpson's single got things going, scoring Wacker. That was followed up by Jay Gonzolez's single, plating Simpson.

The lone run of the game for Alabama A&M crossed the plate in the eighth inning on a groundout by Brandyn Crutcher.

The Bulldogs will now face the Devils in a pivitol three-game series that will determine whether the Bulldogs will play in the post season.  The contests will be in Itta Bena, Mississippi, Friday and Saturday, April 21-22.
