Lady Bulldogs Fall To Lady Panthers

PRAIRIE VIEW -- The Lady Bulldogs basketball team fell to the Lady Panthers of Prairie View 68-59, on Monday evening, in the William Nicks Building, in Prairie View, Texas.

PV took a 12-6 lead with 16:46 remaining. A&M cut the lead within five as Alyssa Strickland’s short jumper pulled the Maroon and White within five 24-19. In the first half A&M shot 48 percent from the field connecting on 13 of 27 shooting.

Jasmine Sanders led A&M with nine points in the first half. Sanders was four for four from the field. From the free throw line A&M shot 71 percent shooting five of seven.

The Lady Panthers extended its lead to 10 with a three pointer from Kiara Etienne with 2:54 remaining. The Lady Bulldogs went on a 5-0 run that included a three pointer from Brittney Strickland and a jumper from Shundray Davis.

The teams went into the locker room with the Lady Panthers leading 37-32.

In the second half the Lady Bulldogs cut the PVAM lead to one 47-46 with 12:58 in the contest. Both teams traded baskets throughout most of the second half.

With less than two minutes on the clock, the Lady Panthers connected on six free throws to close out the win.
Sanders led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points and eight rebounds. NaDra Robertson was second on the team with 10 points and seven rebounds.

With the loss A&M falls to 6-13 overall and 5-4 in the SWAC.

Up next, for the Maroon and White will be the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State on Saturday, Feb. 2. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
