Lady Bulldogs stay perfect in conference play

PINE BLUFF, ARK. - Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs remain undefeated in the Southwestern Athletic Conference defeating the Lady Lions of Arkansas Pine Bluff 73-62, in the H.O. Clemmons Arena Tuesday evening.

With a double-double from senior Nadra Robertson, double-figure performances from juniors Jasmine Sanders and Alyssa Strickland, sophomore Brittney Strickland and freshman Ebony Johnson and a season-high eight assists from senior Shundray Davis, Alabama A&M defeated the Lady Lions of Arkansas Pine-Bluff 73-62 on Tuesday evening, at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
 
In their fourth SWAC win of the year, Robertson notched 10 points and 10 rebounds. Strickland, on a perfect seven of seven from the charity stripe, one of three from behind the arch and a three of seven outing from the field, led A&M with a team high 14 points. Sanders finished with 10 points as well as Strickland while Johnson finished with 11 points on a 4-of-6 performance from the field.
 
The mighty Maroon and White notched a season-high 76 percent from the charity stripe on 16 for 21, while going 30 percent from three-point range three for10 and 48 percent from the field 27 for 56.

A&M advances to 5-9 on the season and 4-0 in the SWAC.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff senior Lakendra Marsh scored a team-high 20 points. Marsh finished the game seven of 15 from the floor and also added four assists.

Chigozianyi Okwumbua added 16 points, including shooting six of seven from the line. UAPB drops to 5-8 overall, and 1-2 in the league.

Up next AAMU will take on SWAC rival the Lady Hornets of Alabama State University, in the T. M. Elmore Gymnasium on Saturday, January, 12th. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
