Round Two of the SWAC In-State Battle; Volleyball Edition

Normal - The Alabama A&M volleyball team is set to play in-state rival Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala., on Thursday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m. in Lockhart Gymnasium.

A&M (5-18, 3-5) stands second in the Eastern Division with wins over Alcorn, Mississippi Valley, and Jackson State. Their two losses in the Southwestern Athletic Conference came by way of Jackson and Alabama State.

The Lady Bulldogs come into the game hitting .149 as a team, which is fifth in the conference. They are led offensively by Leslie Ekpe who is fourth in the league hitting .213 percent and Ashundria McNeal who is sixth with .220.

Ekpe has 168 kills on the year, which is also second in the league and averages 2.10 kills per set. Ashley Foreman leads the conference averaging 7.46 assists per set and has 597 assists on the season.

The Lady Hornets hold sole position of first place in the East with a record of 18-14 overall and 5-0 in the conference. Last timeout ASU swept the Lady Bulldogs three games to none in Normal. The win is State's first in 13 years of the series meeting.
