Baseball set for busy weekend

Normal- The Alabama A&M baseball team (1-4), is set for an action packed weekend, as they will play five games in four days all on the road in the Peach State of Georgia.
 
The Bulldogs will start the long road trip taking on the Panthers of Georgia State University (2-2), in Atlanta, Ga., Thursday, February 21st at 4:00 p.m.
 
Georgia State enters the weekend averaging better than 10 runs per game and hitting .313 as a team. Leading the way is freshman outfielder Josh Merrigan, the reigning CAA Rookie of the Week who is hitting .571 with seven runs batted in, seven runs scored and two stolen bases.
 
The Bulldogs last met the Panthers in 2008, when the GSU swept a doubleheader (12-2, 19-3).

After the game, the Maroon & White will head south to play a four game series with the Tigers of Savannah State University (3-1). The series will begin Friday, February 22nd at 5 p.m. followed by a doubleheader (Sat. Feb. 23rd), then wrapping up on Sunday, February 24th.
 
The Tigers will enter the series with A&M earning 3.75 runs per game and hitting a combined .230 at the plate. Last season, the teams split two doubleheaders with the Tigers taking both opening contests (5-2, 12-5), and the Bulldogs taking the two second games (4-0, 7-4).
 
Todd Hagan leads SSU batting .462 in 13 plate appearances. Defensively SSU is led by Kevin Herlihy who has tallied 23 catches, 21 putouts and two assists.
 
The Bulldogs are led at the plate by Patrick Dodson and Julio Nunez at the plate batting .500 and .438 respectively. Defensively Bradley Black leads the way with 29 putouts, an assist and a fielding percentage of .957.
 
The Bulldogs versus the Tigers action begins Friday, February 22nd at 5:00 p.m. at Tiger Field in Savannah, Georgia.
