Baseball falls to Tennessee Tech

NORMAL – Alabama A&M baseball allowed the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles to jump out to a 6-0 lead before the first inning was half way over.

The lead was extended in the fifth inning before A&M was able to put five on the board of their own eventually falling 8-6 on Tuesday afternoon.

Starting pitcher Austin Hulsey gave up six runs on three hits after facing seven batters before being pulled for Dylan Johnson.

Johnson held the Golden Eagles in check until the top of the fifth inning when TTU added two more runs to the score board off of two hits given up by the sophomore.

The Bulldogs cut into the 6-0 advantage with five runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Jordan Friend got things started with a single followed by Dylan Johnson.  Josh Freeman then reached first base on an error by the third basemen which scored Friend.  Up next was Deon Hall who singled to load the bases for the Maroon & White.  Brandon Crutcher walked in his at bat and scored Johnson.  Patrick Dodson then singled scoring Freeman.  Hulsey then connected on a double and scored Dodson and Crutcher to pull the Bulldogs within one 6-5.

Tennessee Tech went on to score two runs in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 8-5. 

The Bulldogs saw Jordan Benford cross the plate one last time before A&M dropped their 14th straight contest 8-6.
Hulsey ended the game with two runs batted in while Hall led all batters with three hits in four at bats.

A&M will return to conference action this weekend when they travel to Itta Bena Miss. to face the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University.  First pitch is set for noon on Saturday and Sunday, March 23rd and 24th.
