Bulldog Baseball set to host final A&M athletic event

AAMU Overall Stats

NORMAL – The A&M Baseball team will host the Mississippi Valley State University Devils to a three game Southwestern Athletic Conference series Saturday and Sunday, April 27th – 28th beginning at 1 p.m. both days.

The series will serve as the final home athletic event for Alabama A&M athletics for the 2012-2013 seasons.

Austin Husley will look to lead the Maroon & White as he is hitting .329 in 40 contests with 50 hits, seven doubles and 16 RBIs.  Patrick Dodson leads the team with 17 multiple hits games while Deon Hall currently holds an eight game hitting streak.

It will be senior day for the boys in Maroon as Sanchez Tucker, Walton Ashwander and Hall will be participating in their final home event.

Josh Freeman remains the only Bulldog pitcher with multiple victories on the year.  Freeman has a 9.62 earned run average and 32 strikeouts in 2013.

Valley has only won four games on the year and has no one listed in their lineup batting over .300.  German Hays leads the Devils with a .291 average in 33 contests played.

MVSU (5-36, 1-14) will look to Montana Killier to keep them ahead in the Eastern Division standings.  Killier is 1-10 after 15 appearances on the mound.  He has totaled 38 strikeouts.

Valley is ranked fifth in the Eastern Division while A&M holds a one game lead over the Devils in the fourth spot.  Both teams have won only one league contest as the battle for the fourth and the final postseason spot in the East begins Saturday.

All three games will be free admission and will be played at the Bulldog baseball field.  Live stats will be available for fans that can’t make the contest.
