Baseball travels to Lorman, Mississippi for three game series

NORMAL – Standing in fourth place with a two game lead the Bulldog (5-37, 3-14 SWAC) baseball team will travel to Lorman, Mississippi to face the Braves of Alcorn State on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 - 5th.

The Braves and the Bulldogs will meet for their final Southwestern Athletic Conference series this weekend.

Sophomore Patrick Dodson leads the way for A&M with 42 games played and a .329 batting average.  The Huntsville, Ala. native has 53 hits, 27 runs, eight doubles, and 22 runs batted in.  Dodson has collected 18 multiple hits contests and five multiple RBI games. 

Senior Deon Hall is riding a 10 game hitting streak while Dodson is on a 28 game reached base streak.

Josh Freeman will look to earn his fourth win as he leads the team with a 3-9 win-loss record in 15 appearances.  Freeman has totaled 33 strikeouts in 56 innings pitched.

Alcorn (11-35, 11-9 SWAC) is ranked third in the Eastern Division and split two games with A&M in their first meeting 11-5 and 10-6.  The third contest was called in the seventh inning due to weather with Alcorn up 8-0.

Cedric Bell leads the Braves with a .318 average at the plate while Harrison Gray has a 3.69 earned run average and a 4-2 win-loss record in 13 appearances.

A&M needs to win at least two games to continue their lead in fourth place as they battle for a spot in the post season conference tournament.
