Baseball set for final regular season contests

AAMU Overall Stats

NORMAL – Not since the 2009 season has the Maroon & White baseball team seen the post season.

That’s all about to change as Alabama A&M is one win shy of qualifying for the Southwestern Athletic Conference 2013 baseball tournament.

The Bulldogs will face Mississippi Valley State University in their final regular season series Thursday and Friday May 9th and 10th at 1 & 3 p.m. both days.

In their last meeting A&M pull off 8-3 and 5-4 wins over the Devils and hold a three game lead over Valley in the Eastern division.
A&M (6-39, 4-16) will look to their consistent hitter Patrick Dodson who leads the team with a .331 average with 58 hits and 31 runs in 175 at bats.  Dodson is ahead of all Bulldogs with 20 multiple hit games.

Austin Hulsey leads the team with nine multiple RBI contests while outfielder Brandyn Crutcher has the longest current hitting streak at seven.  Dodson also leads the team with a current streak of 31 games where he has reached base.

Valley (5-42, 1-16) will look to German Hays to lead the team at the plate.  Hays is the lone Devil who is batting over .300 at .305 in 141 at bats.

A&M and Valley will play a rare four game series due to a rain out in Huntsville in April.  A&M needs to win one game to solidify their fourth place standing while Valleys needs a four game sweep to continue their 2013 season.
