Box Score

NORMAL – The Alabama A&M baseball team defeated the Devils of Mississippi Valley 15-3 in the first game of their four game series today and tomorrow, to capture fourth place in the Eastern Division in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The win catapults the Bulldogs into the post season for the first time since the 2009 season.

The Bulldogs brought their power stroke to Greenville on Thursday afternoon, getting a four-hit performance from Cornelius Woods and a triple from Austin Hulsey.

That was more than enough offense for Bulldog starter Sanchez Tucker, who was stellar throughout. He allowed three runs on eight hits in seven innings. The senior earned his fourth win of the year.

Brandon Crutcher started the scoring with a single to center in the first inning. Following, Cruther was Patrick Dodson who hit a single to add two Bulldogs to the bases.  Austin Hulsey then tripled to centerfield to score two RBIs, as Crutcher and Dodson came across the plate.  The
Bulldogs ended the inning with two more runs to take a 4-0 lead.

The Maroon and White scored in six of seven innings and racked up 19 hits.  This was the 17th double digit hits game for the Bulldogs in 2013.

Every player in Maroon and White secured at least one hit in the contest.

Four of five of Woods hits were doubles while Deon Hall accumulated a game high four RBIs in the contest.
