Box Score

Normal- Alabama A&M women's basketball welcomed the Panthers of Prairie View A&M and despite a hard fought game, fell 68-60.

Although the Panthers maintained their lead with 12 minutes left in the game, A&M shortened the advantage to only two points.

Over the next four minutes, the tide turned in Prairie View's favor as they went on to increase their lead to eight at 56-48 forcing Lady Bulldog head coach Semeka Randall to call a timeout. The timeout did little to help the Maroon & White, as the Panthers would only extend their lead in the final minutes of the contest. With only seconds left in the game, the Panthers ensured their win with a score of (68-60)

The Maroon & White were led by Brittany Strickland who tallied 18 points with six assists and three steals. Jasmine Sanders also booked 15 points, with seven rebounds.

Shamiya Brooks led the Panthers to victory collecting 19 points and 11 rebounds. She was followed by Jeanette Jackson with 18 points and LaReahn Washington with 15 points and six rebounds.

Both A&M and PV came out fired up and ready go in this Monday night game. The Bulldogs came out determined to end the Lady Panthers' four game winning streak. The contest remained tight as the first two media timeouts passed. As the game went on, the Panthers slowly started to slip away and take the lead.

With a few changes and a major pick-up on defense by A&M, which caused nine turnovers and five steals, the Bulldogs shortened the Panthers' lead. With less than four minutes in the game the Bulldogs hung closely to the Panthers, trailing by two. By the end of the half, the Bulldogs came back from a 10-point deficit, to tie the game at 29.

The Strickland twins took control offensively for the Maroon & White, with Brittany scoring nine and Alyssa adding five points in the first half.

The second period started where the first left off, back and forth action with both teams playing extremely hard. The Panthers regained their lead, with the help of their leading scorer, Shamiya Brooks.  By the first media timeout in the second period, PV led by six.

The Lady Bulldogs will return to the hardwood on February 8th when they hit the road to take on the Golden Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.  Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
