Women’s Basketball Goes for the Season Sweep of UAPB

NORMAL - The Alabama A&M women's basketball team (3-16, 1-8 SWAC) will attempt to complete the season sweep of the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Lady Lions (2-17, 1-8 SWAC) Saturday at 5 p.m. at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.

Senior Alyssa Strickland led the Bulldogs to an 87-63 win at home against UAPB. This was the first conference win for head coach Semeka Randall and the women's basketball team.

It also marked a season high for made three-pointers (11) for the women's basketball team and the first time they have made double digit three's as a team in one game in Bulldog Division I history.

The game will also play a pivotal role in determining seeding for next month's SWAC Tournament in Houston, Texas. Currently, the Bulldogs have a half-game lead over the Lions.

The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff battle back from a nine point halftime deficit, but couldn't make it over the hump in the second half against Jackson State falling to the Lady Tigers 78-69 in their most recent contest.

The Lady Lions were led by Jazyme Victorian scoring a career high 24 points, followed by Christina Lasane with 15 points.

Fans can follow the game, which tips off at 5:00 p.m., via 90.9 WJAB.
