UAPB Out-Battles A&M, 79-72

PINE BLUFF, ARK - Brittney Strickland scored 20 points and Jasmine Sanders grabbed 12 rebounds, but UAPB scored 13 points in the final two minutes of the game and endured a wild finish to capture a 79-72 Southwestern Athletic Conference victory over A&M at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
 
AAMU (3-17, 1-9 SWAC) used a 10-3 run in the first half to spark a fast break by Strickland and cut into UAPB lead. The women's basketball team dug into the lead and pulled within two 66-64 at the 1:54 mark. Arkansas-Pine Bluff then used a 13-8 run to close out the contest and split the regular season meetings with the visiting team.
 
A&M dominated on the boards' with a 43-42 rebounding edge, but the Lady Lions shot 44 percent connecting on 28 shots. This recorded the sixth occasion A&M scored 70 or more points.

The Bulldogs shot 39 percent from the field, and was 22 of 31 from the charity stripe. Sanders scored 19 while Taylor Sippial and Alyssa Strickland each had 10 points.
 
Cassidy Wright had 15 points for the Lions while Christina Lasane had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Up Next, the Bulldogs will travel to Itta Bena, Mississippi to take on the Deviletts of Mississippi Valley on Monday, Feb 10.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
