Baseball ventures into non-conference play

NORMAL – The Bulldog baseball team will welcome the Morehead State Golden Eagles to a 2 p.m. midweek contest on Tuesday, March 18 and 19.

Morehead State sits at 8-10 overall and 2-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Eagles baseball team rallied for a 9-8 win in game one of a doubleheader against Tennessee Tech Saturday.

A&M most recent loss came against the Hornets of Alabama State on Sunday.

The Bulldogs boast three batters with an average above .300 in Austin Hulsey, Andrew Utterback, and Cornelius Woods. Hulsey owns a .379 mark in 18 games this season, driving in nine runs and slugging .470. Utterback has recorded 22 RBI's on the year, batting .368 with 25 hits and seven runs scored.

The pitching staff for Alabama A&M owns a 6.06 earned run average over 178 innings. They have combined for 127 strikeouts.

The Maroon & White are off to a great start this season, owning a 7-14 record overall and a 4-5 league mark with a series win over Alcorn State.

The games will be played at the Bulldog baseball field and admission is free.
