Two Midweek Games set for A&M Baseball

NORMAL – The Bulldog baseball team will play a pair of mid-week contests, beginning with a Tuesday, April 1, nine-inning meeting with Tennessee Tech at Bulldog Field. Samford University will make their appearance at A&M on Wednesday, April 2.

A&M's Andrew Utterback, the junior from Sigourney, Iowa, is off to a remarkable start batting .429 with three homers and 29 runs batted in. Julio Nunez is batting .376 and leads the team in homeruns with five. Nunez has 27 RBI's and nine stolen bases.

As a team, A&M is second in the conference with a .288 batting average. The Maroon & White lineup also features .300 hitters in Austin Hulsey (.330), Cornelius Woods (.310), Justen Folger (.310), Brandyn Crutcher (.348) and Keyonta Welch (.303). The Maroon & White pitching staff has accounted for 160 strikeouts with Devin Smith leading the way with 28.

The Golden Eagles will enter the contest after rallying in come-from-behind, 10-6 win against the Cougars of SIU-Edwardsville on Sunday afternoon. On the season, Tennessee Tech is hitting .320 as a team. Daniel Miles paces the squad with a .436 average. Dylan Bosheers (.389) and Zach Zarzour (.362) are the other everyday heavy hitters. As a team, the Golden Eagles have swiped 27 bases through just 29 games, with Bosheers leading the way with eight.

Tuesday's match-up is set for 3:00 p.m. while Wednesday's meeting is set for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
