Bulldogs Fall to Tech 5-2

Box Score

NORMAL – In their first of two midweek contests the A&M Baseball team fell to Tennessee Tech 5-2 Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs led 2-1 through four innings before Tech used a three-run fifth inning to earn the victory.

Alabama A&M jumped in front with a pair of runs in the third inning. Ramon Nelson's double to right center brought home Dustin Dhanani, who singled to right field, and then Brandon Crutcher doubled to score Nelson.

AAMU starter Benjamin Ryder blanked the Golden Eagles in the first three innings before running into trouble in the fourth. The junior right-hander allowed one earned run, on three hits with four strikeouts and three walks.

Tech answered with a run in the top of the sixth and ninth to pull away, 5-2.

Jordan Friend's eighth inning single led off for the Bulldogs as he advanced to second on a sacrifice hit and then advanced to third on a ground out by Crutcher. Unfortunately the Bulldogs couldn't get the run across as Justin Folger struck out to end the inning.

Honea earned the victory for Tennessee Tech.

Nelson, Crutcher, Dhanani and Friend each collected a hit to lead the Bulldogs with Nelson and Crutcher each batting in a run.

Next up, A&M will take the field on Wednesday, April 2, at 2 p.m. Their opponent will be the Bulldogs of Samford University.
