Bulldog Baseball Welcomes Jackson State in key Series

NORMAL - Alabama A&M baseball welcomes Jackson State to Normal this weekend in a pivotal Southwestern Athletic Conference contest.

First pitch on Saturday, April 12, is scheduled for noon and 3:30 p.m. at Bulldog Field, with Sunday, April 13, series finale beginning at 1:00 p.m.

All three games this weekend will be available via live stats.

The Maroon & White will look to Andrew Utterback who is riding a five game hitting streak and currently holds a .404 average at the plate with eight doubles and 32 runs batted in. Utterback is first in batting average in the conference with Brandyn Crutcher ranking second hitting .393 at the plate in 27 games played.

Utterback is first in slugging percentage (.633), first in on base percentage (.521), fifth in hits(45), fifth in RBI's (32), tied for second in homeruns (5) and fourth in total bases (69).

Julio Nunez stands third in slugging percentage (.570), second in total bases( 73), fourth in hits (45) and first in homeruns (6) in the SWAC

Devin Smith holds the best record among the pitchers on "The Hill" with a 3-4 record and a team leading 36 strikeouts.

The Tigers are led by Tilur Smith who holds a .386 batting average. Desmond Russell is the only JSU pitcher with a winning record at 4-3 in ten appearances. He leads the team with 44 strikeouts.
