Baseball plays Alabama State tough in 6-2 loss

NORMAL— The Bulldog baseball team fell to Alabama State 6-2 in their final contest of their series against their arch rival the Hornets of Alabama State at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex, in Montgomery, Alabama.

Keyonta Welch's eighth inning triple began a rally for the Maroon & White. Jordan Friend followed with a single up the middle to score Welch from third and pulled the Bulldogs within three 4-1.
 
Devin Smith pitched five innings, allowing just four runs on two hits with three strikeouts.  ASU starter Tyler Howe went all nine innings and gave up two runs on seven hits.
 
The Bulldogs added a run in the ninth when Dustin Dhanani scored on an error by the catcher. That would be the final run of the series for A&M as State recorded the third out ending the game and their final regular season meeting.
 
On the day A&M out hit their rivals seven to five. The Bulldogs had multiple players to collect a hit.
 
Alabama A&M now travels to the University of North Alabama for a mid-week contest on Tuesday, April 22.  First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
