A&M to Battle Mississippi Valley in Back to Back Double Headers

NORMAL – The Bulldog baseball team will host the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University in back to back doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4, on "The Hill".

The first set of doubleheaders is scheduled for noon and 3:30 p.m. at Bulldog Field, while the second is set to start at the same time on Sunday.

Maroon & White baseball brings in a .284 team batting average with 67 doubles, 11 triples and 23 home runs.

The Bulldogs are led individually by outfielder Andrew Utterback, who enters the series with a .386 average, nine doubles, five home runs and 34 runs batted in. A&M's leading home run hitter is Julio Nunez with six.

Valley is 3-32 overall and 3-15 in the Eastern Division of the conference. They are on a three game losing streak and will look to earn their fourth league win on Saturday. Arrington Smith lead the team with a .296 batting average with 37 hits, six doubles, four runs batted in and 43 total bases.

A series victory will guarantee the Bulldogs a second place finish in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The finish would be the highest A&M has seen since the league was split into two divisions in baseball.
