A&M Ends Regular Season at Samford Falling 5-1

NORMAL – A&M baseball dropped a 5-1 decision at Samford University, on Tuesday evening at the Joe Lee Griffin Field to end the 2014 regular season.
 
Justin Folger went one for two and accounted for the Bulldogs RBI.  Dustin Dhanani went one for three on the night and scored the only run for the Maroon and White.
 
AAMU's Payden Khun pitched one inning, giving up three runs on two hits to take the loss on the mound. Jordan Benford, Taylor Knight and Andrew Utterback also saw time on the mound.
  
Samford jumped on top first with three runs in the top of the first inning. Jared Watson led the game off with a double to left field scoring T.J. Dixon. Heath Quinn sacrifice fly to left field scored Watson. The Bulldogs then added a run to push their lead to 3-0.
 
A&M got on the scoreboard with their lone run in the bottom of the third inning. With one out, Boston Neal-Martinez reached on a fielding error by the shortstop. Ramon Nelson then walked advancing Dhanani to third base. Folger was then hit by the pitcher to score Dhanani.

Samford went on to finish the midweek contest with a run in the bottom of the third and fifth innings.
 
A&M will now rest and prepare for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament, which will be held on May 14-18 at the Urban Youth Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana.
