SAVANNAH, GA -- The Bulldogs return to the diamond Friday to open a four-game series at Savannah State. Alabama A&M is coming off a loss Wednesday at South Alabama and will be trying to end its three-game skid.
Carson McGregory and Zeth Malcom pace the Bulldogs' offense. They are each on a five-game hitting streak, the longest active streak in the Southwestern Athletic Conference this season.
A trio of Bulldogs is among the league's top 10 hitters: McGregory is fourth with a .444 average.; Njike Hunter is tied for seventh at .385; and Malcom is ninth at .368.
The Bulldogs are second in the league in batting with a .274 average and lead the league in fielding at .976 with just four errors in five games.
Other league leaders include Carlton Peppers with a SWAC-high six runs scored and Brandon Marsonek with 12 strikeouts this season in a league-most 10 innings. Marsonek, the reigning SWAC Pitcher of the Week, is second in the SWAC with a 0.90 earned run average.
After this weekend, the Bulldogs return home to host North Alabama on Tuesday and Tennessee-Martin on Wednesday. First pitch for both games is 2 p.m.
