COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Bulldogs start the first leg of their six games in eight days road swing Wednesday at Tennessee Tech.
The Golden Eagles (16-6 overall, 6-0 Ohio Valley Conference) are riding a four-game winning streak while the Bulldogs (5-18, 2-4 SWAC) have dropped two straight. Tennessee Tech leads the all-time series 12-1.
The Bulldogs are led by one of the hottest hitters in the conference in second baseman Pierre Brewton.
Brewton has hit safely in 9 of the last 11 games - including six multi-hit games -Â and raised his batting average more than 200 points to .294. He leads the Bulldogs with runs batted in.
Cornelious Woods leads the team with a .377 batting average - which is seventh in the SWAC - and a .492 slugging percentage. The senior third baseman has hit safely in 15 of 18 games this season.
On the mound, senior Brandon Marsonek is the current SWAC Pitcher of the Week. He has a league-best 45 strikeouts and leads the nation with 16 appearances. His 45 strikeouts rank 14th-most in the country.
After Wednesday's non-conference game, A&M travels to Lorman, Miss., for a three-game SWAC East Division series Friday-Sunday at Alcorn State.
