HUNTSVILLE -- The Bulldogs are back home after an eight-day, six-game road swing that saw them sweep SWAC Eastern Division foe Alcorn State.
This weekend A&M hosts Jackson State, who is just one game ahead of the Bulldogs in the division.
Taking the mound Friday for the Bulldogs will be Caleb Gay. The freshman will be making his eighth start; before this weekend, he was second in the nation in starts, just one behind co-leaders Ryan Anderson of Florida A&M and Jackson State's Jordan Bolden.
Gay (2-2, 5.98) has won his last two starts - a 9-6 win over Mississippi Valley and a 4-0 shutout at Alcorn State.
At the plate for the Bulldogs, Cornelious Woods is hitting .356 and Carson McGregory has a .324 batting average. McGregory leads the team with 34 hits, including 10 doubles, and Woods has 31 hits.
On the mound, Brandon Marsonek is the nation's top strikeout pitcher with 64 and he leads the country with 21 mound appearances.
