HUNTSVILLE– The Lady Bulldogs (8-10, 3-4 SWAC) are back home after a weekend on the road as they host Texas Southern in a 4 p.m. game Saturday at the T.M. Elmore Gym.  

Alabama A&M fell to Southern, 77-62, in league play on Jan. 22 in Baton Rouge, La.
 
In the loss, the Lady Bulldogs were led by Natalie Collins who with 15 points and three rebounds. She was followed by Ashlyn Dotson who contributed 12 points. Alexandria Johnson led the team with nine total rebounds while adding 11 points.

The Lady Bulldogs are ranked seventh in the SWAC standing right below Prairie View A&M. Dotson leads the team with 8.4 points per game and is second in the SWAC with a .482 field goal percentage. Nigeria Jones averages 8.2 points per game for AAMU. Kanisha Tharpe leads the Lady Bulldogs with 6.5 rebounds per game and is sixth in the league in the category. Lauren McKee is sixth in assists in the league averaging 3.1 per game.

Alabama A&M enters the weekend shooting 395-1104 (35.8 percent) from the field, including 68-282 (24.1 percent) from beyond the arc, and 167-271 (61.6 percent) at the free-throw line.
 
LOOKING AT THE LADY TIGERS
The Lady Tigers (10-8, 5-2 SWAC) overcame a poor shooting performance on Jan. 22 to claim a 58-52 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Joyce Kennerson and Kaitlyn Palmer scored 18 points each to lead TSU. Kennerson added six rebounds and four assists.

Texas Southern is ranked third in the SWAC right behind Jackson State. Kennerson is the top scorer for the Lady Tigers and leads the SWAC in scoring with 25.2 points per game. Palmer is ninth in the SWAC with an average of 13.8 points per game. Breasia McElrath leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game and is seventh in the league in the category. Kennerson is also third in the SWAC with 4.3 assists per game.
 
The Lady Tigers are shooting 408-991 (41.2 percent) from the floor, 98-292 (33.6 percent) from distance, and 242-353 (68.6 percent) at the charity stripe.

Last year in the two game series, the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Bulldogs, 60-51 in Houston, TX. on Jan. 30 and earned a 53-39 victory over AAMU Feb. 27 in Elmore Gym.
