GAINESVILLE, FL.---The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs took the track for Day 2 of the 2018 Pepsi Florida Relays hosted by the University of Florida on a rainy Friday.
The Bulldogs did not let the rain damper their goals that were put in place prior to the beginning of the competition. The two sophomore hurdlers began the competition during the early afternoon with the men's collegiate 400 meter hurdle race. Alex Ward lead the hurdle crew with a 15th place finish with a time of 53.02. Following directly behind him was teammate Tre' Williams who finished with a time of 53.05.

The Bulldogs team of Ward, Williams, Joshua Napier. and Leroy Campbell finished with a seasonal best time of 3:13.09 however was disqualified after the completion of the event for breaking a line violation.
"Wow it always great to come back and double up with two continuous days of great competition and be able to say that we have competed very well. It has been a long time coming however I believe that Alabama A&M University track and field is headed in the right direction," Coach LaShaunda Jones said. "Although the men's relay team was disqualified they ran well and accomplished what we set out for them to do today.
"Sometimes you have to learn those hard lessons and pay attention to the simple details of the basic rules of track and field with relays. I pray that it is a lesson that these young men do not have to experience again and remain focus on continuing to improve on their times," Jones said.
Tomorrow is the final day of competition in the Relay meet. The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to complete in the Sprint Medley Relay, 4x100 meter Relay and the 4x200 meter Relay prior to heading back to Huntsville, Alabama.
