Quotes from the Bulldogs regarding the War Eagle Invitational and SWAC Championship

The meet at Auburn was very good. Being able to execute my hard training this season and performing it on the track allowed me to PR in the 800. As for the team, we did fairly well as well as went back to practice after the Auburn meet to work on minor things. Gearing up for the championships, I feel extremely confident on placing in all my events and helping the team to possibly be SWAC Champs.

Going into the Auburn meet, I felt better than I have felt physically in the outdoor season at that meet. I was focused and ready to run knowing that it's getting close to championship time and we want nothing but the best for ourselves going into championship. That meet within the team had a lot of motivation from each other and it helped me to know my team wants it just as much as I do. The team was ready to compete and we got the job done. Going into championship, I feel as though we have a lot to look forward to nonetheless, I expect great things from my teammates and myself.

Going into the Auburn meet, I felt extremely confident. It was a lot on my mind from trying to get my time down, and getting on the regionals list, finishing a full meet strong and healthy. A couple of mishaps happened, but they were small and were fixed after returning from that meet. The team had personal best all-around. I would say that was one of our best meets in the season with P.Rs from a lot of my teammates. I hope that we keep this strong mindset this weekend and that this will be a really good championship season for us .

The Auburn meet was a big meet for our team going into championship to see where we are at individual and as a team. The weather was decent. Because of how hot it was, it prepared us for the heat here in Texas. As a team, we performed well and showed major improvements on the men's and women's sides. It was nice to see so many personal best from people like Sabria in the mile, Diamond in the 800M, Akia in the 200m, Josh in 400m, Alex and Trey Williams in the 400M Hurdles, DT in the 200m and the men's 4×100 relay team at the Auburn meet because it shows we can go even faster at championship. We are about shock a lot schools at championships. On the field side, this was a decent meet for us. We climbed up the rankings in multiple events. We still have some work to do and we focused on fixing the minor problems in our techniques to build consistency in our approach. As the back bone of the team, we can really set the tone for championship.

The Auburn Meet I felt confidence in myself & the team. Running the 400m at Auburn I knew I was going to PR because of the work ethic that I placed in during the training from the crafting that Coach Briggs gave me. As of the team that was our break out meet we really had something to prove everybody is finally on the same mindset to championship & beyond. I'm highly proud of team because they know & I know if we all eating we all winning. There were major PRs from our mid distance crew, throwers, hurdlers, & sprints. I can state this with confidence that WE ARE READY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP

This past weekend at Auburn was an exciting meet to run in. Knowing how this meet was last year, I knew this year I was going to have to run faster than I ever did in order to be at the top of result list. I knew I was going to have to think about everything I worked hard on in practice and execute as soon as the gun went off to start my race. That's exactly what I did and I ended up running a lifetime best in the 400mH and close to my best in the 110mH. Many of my teammates did the same exact thing and saw their personal best too. Seeing what we can do regular season meet is going to help us realize what we can do at a post season meet where it all counts. From this point on I just have to keep pushing myself through practice and work hard for the gold at championship. Right now most of us are feeling good about going into championship so hopefully we will be at the top.

In the Auburn meet, I felt good that I improved in one out of the two events I competed in, but disappointed that my other event didn't go well. I need to keep trying to improve in my 5000. To ensure that I keep Improving in my events I need to keep trying to execute my strategy for my races. I think that that team did good because they went to the meet wanting to PR, but some had minor flaws. With the time before championships, I think I and the team improved a lot more. We just have to believe in ourselves that we can place and score points for the team as a whole.

At the Auburn meet, I was pretty nervous and didn't know how I would do because I was in pain, but I got my mind right before my race and ignored it and just trusted my training went out and gave It my all I had and I did well proud with my results. As a team, I feel like we did pretty decent, but most of us have to get uncomfortable with being comfortable and put more effort in practice not just at meets, which we did and therefore I believe we will be fine going into Championship. I feel good going into Championship and I am excited to see if I can continue to get my times.

Akia Slaughter
For the Auburn track meet, I felt my individual races were off to a rocky start with my 100m. However, I was able to get back on track and focused for my 200m, which allowed me to drop my time again after two weeks of running under my first PR. As for the team, I felt we did well and the ladies 4x100 was able to do well considering the adjustments that were made at the meet.  There were many personal records that were made, which also motived people to do better and work harder to achieve their goals.  As for championship, for me, I feel very confident. I strongly believe I will drop my time in both of my individual races as well as the relays. As a team, we are prepared to go out and fight hard to medal and break records at championship.
