NASHVILLE __ Nthabiseng Mashengo took the final match of the day in singles as the Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs tennis team defeated Tennessee State 4-3 Sunday afternoon in a non-conference women's tennis match.

"I was pleased with our performance in singles," Alabama A&M coach Willis Mbandi said. "We played against a good Tennessee State team that we have lost to in previous years."

Jasmine Boyd and Anita Bozhko won in the first singles match 6-3 for the Bulldogs.

Individually, Boyd won No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2, while Bozhko won No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-4 and Rida Khalid won No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-4.

"Our doubles play is getting better and I hope we can transform that into a point soon," Mbandi said. "We just have to play with the same confidence that we demonstrate in singles and play the big points well."

The Lady Bulldogs will play Grambling next in Shreevport on March 30th.
