Lady Bulldogs fall victim to sweep in Nashville

Box Score NASHVILLE, TN __ The Lady Bulldogs softball team fall victim to a sweep Tuesday after suffering two tough losses in a doubleheader in Nashville against Tennessee State. Alabama A&M fell 10-2 in six before losing the second contest 9-4. 
 
The Tigers opened up the scoring in the first with two runs before exploding for five runs in the bottom of the third and finishing off the sixth with three more runs for their ten total runs.
 
Offensively it was a struggle for the Bulldogs, as Ariel McAtee scored in the fourth on a throwing error, while Alyssa Lopez scored off an RBI by Tia Davis in the fifth for the only runs in the game.
 
Lauren Hayden (7-5) suffered the loss while giving up six hits and seven runs, while McHaliee Danner came in for relief for the final three innings.
 
The second game of the doubleheader started with the Tigers scoring twice in both the first and second innings, adding another in the third and the final four runs in the sixth inning to close out the game. 
 
The Bulldogs hit better in the second game. The team totaled eight hits, adding a run in the third off an RBI from Lisabelle Hansell, another in the fifth after a double and RBI by Alyssa Lopez, and the final two runs in the sixth off a two-run homer by Tamia Lee-Barbadillo.
 
Lisabelle Hansell (5-4) suffered the loss in the second game, giving up nine hits and nine runs.
 
The Lady Bulldogs are currently 14-13 overall and 3-3 in the conference. They will be at home again this weekend for a conference series starting April 5 at 3 p.m. against Jackson State at Bulldog Field.
