MONTGOMERY, Ala ^__ After a great 2019 campaign, two Lady Bulldogs players and the head coach have earned top conference honors. 
 
Tamia Lee-Barbadillo earned Player and Hitter of the Year honors after a standout season highlighted by a SWAC-best 11 home runs and 35 runs scored. The first-team All-SWAC shortstop hit a team-best .371, accounting for 46 hits, nine doubles, a .726 slugging percentage and 30 RBIs at the plate. Defensively, she was responsible for 65 put outs and 56 assists as she led the Bulldogs to an Eastern Division championship.
 
Bulldog catcher Danielle Hansell was also named first-team All-SWAC for the 2019 season, where she totaled 40 hits, 23 runs and 18 runs batted in with a .367 batting average. Hansell also had only two errors all season with 112 put outs and 17 assists behind the plate. 
 
Alabama A&M head softball coach Cassandra Brown was named SWAC Conference Coach of the Year in her first season leading the program. Brown, the youngest coach to win the award, led the Bulldogs to a 22-17 record overall and the top seed of the East Division heading into the conference tournament. For the 2019 season, the Lady Bulldogs were top five in the conference in batting average, runs, hits, home runs, and runs batted in. The team also was second in conference in fielding percentage and errors. 
 
The Lady Bulldogs will be in action again to open the conference tournament on Wednesday, against University of Arkansas Pine Bluff as they look to capture the conference title and automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Softball Tournament.
