BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the first time of his career, Alabama A&M sophomore forward
Jalen Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) has earned Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Texas Southern's Michael Weathers, as announced by the league on Wednesday, December 2.
Johnson delivered an outstanding season opening performance as the Bulldogs went on the road to defeat in-state opponent Samford, 78-76, on Sunday, November 29.
In 28 minutes of work he scored a career-high 28 points career-highs of 28 points on 13-of-17 shooting along with collecting seven rebounds.
Johnson and the Bulldogs are back in action this Saturday, December 5 when they travel to perennial power Ohio State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (EST) in Columbus, Ohio.
