HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Poised to host their rival in a matchup of two of the best teams in the league, Alabama A&M (4-2, 2-1 SWAC) women's basketball has instead paused activities as a result of COVID-19 protocols within the program.
 
Scheduled to be a doubleheader on Saturday, January 16 with the women going at 2 p.m. and the men at 4:30 p.m., the men's game will now be moved up to 3 p.m..
 
The decision to postpone the women's game aligns with both Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and Alabama A&M COVID-19 procedures. At this time, no makeup date has been scheduled.
 
"First and foremost our primary concern is for the health and safety of our student-athletes," said Alabama A&M Director of Athletics Bryan Hicks. "These individuals have chosen to be Bulldogs and their families have entrusted them to us. We have a responsibility to always do what is in their best interest. To that end, we have developed plans and procedures based off of CDC best practices and input from our local health officials in Alabama concerning COVID-19 and will continue to implement them to ensure as safe of a season as is possible."
 
The Bulldogs next scheduled game is slated for Saturday, January 23 when they host Southern University at Elmore Gymnasium. Stay tuned to www.AAMUSports.com for any further schedule updates throughout the 2020-21 campaign.
