BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After only one week of the 2021-22 men's basketball season, Alabama A&M junior guard
Garrett Hicks (Madison, Ala.) has earned Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Impact Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Friday, November 19.
The award recognizes the accomplishments of a player that made a noticeable difference in their team's games. This particular award summarizes his game and what he does for the team by being a major impact.
Hicks put up strong numbers as he averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and six steals over two games and 11 rebounds.
He opened the week and the season against Tennessee State (11/9) with 16 points, five rebounds and two steals before facing Jacksonville State (11/13). In that contest he finished with 11 points and led the Bulldogs in boards with six to go along with four steals.
Hicks and the Bulldogs return to action on Sunday, November 21 as they travel to Alabama-Birmingham. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. at Bartow Arena.
