Alabama A&M's Stokes Chosen For Women Sports Foundation and NBC Sports Student-Athlete Mentoring Program

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- Alabama A&M women's soccer player Taylor Stokes (Katy, Texas) is one of 20 student-athletes representing 15 colleges and nine different sports to be part of the Women's Sports Foundation and NBC Sports Group mentoring program. The initiative is designed to help student-athletes translate the valuable skills they have acquired through participation in collegiate sports into successful careers.

NBC Sports Group employees will serve as program mentors in a number of diverse business functions including legal, human resources, marketing, digital, communications, operations, IT, finance, sales and media production.

Stokes will be working with Lisa Akerson the senior director of Customer Experience of SportsNext and is only just one of two athletes from Historically Black Colleges, with the other student being from North Carolina A&T State.

The program began on November 17, 2021 and goes through May 2022. Stokes, a junior defender studying Sports Management and the other mentees will engage in events and webinars that will focus on career development, network-building, personal branding, communication, interviewing skills and navigating the workplace.

The Women's Sports Foundation will facilitate monthly learning sessions powered by Exos, a company that is a world leader in human performance, whose integrated coaching approach empowers people to ascend to new heights in work, sport, and life, and who focuses on proactive health and performance for elite athletes, businesses and the military.

This diverse programming aims to inspire and support women collegiate athletes as they explore potential career paths.
