MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Alabama A&M men's track & field opened the 2021 outdoor season in strong fashion with a pair of individual victories at the Montevallo Falcon Classic from March 19-20.
Sophomore
Brandon McLaren (Clifton, Hanover, Jamaica) led that effort with a first place victory over eight other competitors in the decathlon. In that 10-event effort he totaled 6,227 points with first place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (15.70) and discus (41.03m). He was also second in the 100-meters (11.39) and javelin (55.01m) while tying for second in the high jump at 1.77-meters.
Freshman
Devin Gronewold (Arab, Ala.) joined him with a 1-of-4 finish in the high jump as he cleared 1.88-meters and was 9-of-17 in the long jump (6.43m). Sophomore
Kyle Graham (Mobile, Ala.) was not far behind with a 4-of-10 outing in the 400-meter hurdles (57.81) and senior
Donald Weakley (Nashville, Tenn.) was 6-of-30 in the 100-meters at 11.00. He also added a 16-of-41 finish in the 200-meters (22.80).
Freshman
Jeremy Gresham (Montgomery, Ala.) notched a 16-of-31 performance in the 400-meters (52.46) and senior
Tyrese McPhatter (Columbus, Ga.) was 18-of-41 in the 200-meters at 22.83.
The Bulldogs will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Mississippi State for the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays from March 26-27.
