HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Fending off rain at the end of the round, Alabama A&M men's golf closed out the 2021 Alabama A&M Spring Classic in sixth place at Robert Trent Jones Hampton Cove on Tuesday, March 23. Over 54 holes they shot a 340-331-333-1,004.
Sophomore
Torrance Allen II (Ellenwood, Ga.) led the way as he finished 23-of-35 with rounds of 79-78-78-235 and junior
Jason Johnson (Toledo, Ohio) maintained his spot as the club's second highest finisher, coming in at 28
th at 82-80-80-242.
Junior
Conner McMillan (Oxford, Ind.) moved up a spot to 31
st (83-84-86-253) as did both seniors
Nylan Washington (Decatur, Ga.) and
Reginald Brown (Jonesboro, Ga.). They placed 32
nd and 33
rd with rounds of 96-89-89-274 and 106-97-100-303, respectively.
DePaul won the tournament with a score of 881 with Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Alabama State tying for second at 894. Miles placed fourth at 903 with Snead State Community College (926) in fifth, followed by the Bulldogs.
Headlining the All-Tournament Team was low medalist Anthony Lumpkin of Miles while he was joined by Connor Glennon (DePaul), Noah Kolar (DePaul), Justin Lee (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) and Afran Chowdhury (Alabama State).
Alabama A&M is back in action next week when they head to the HBCU Invitational from March 29-30. That tournament is slated to be played at Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
