KENNESAW, Ga. | Amad Gardner sits tied for 10th individually, while
Griffin Burns fired a 4-under-par second round as the Alabama A&M University men's golf team completed the opening two rounds of The Scrappy at Pinetree on Monday at Pinetree Country Club.
The Bulldogs stand 11th with a 36-hole total of 608 (+32). Alabama A&M improved by 14 strokes between rounds, following an opening-round 311 (+23) with a 297 (+9).
Gardner paced the Bulldogs with an even-par 144, carding a 1-under 71 in the opening round and a 1-over 73 in the afternoon. He enters Tuesday's final round six strokes behind individual leader Cameron Jackson of Georgia State.
Burns delivered Alabama A&M's lowest round of the day, bouncing back from an opening-round 80 with a 68. His 12-stroke improvement moved him into a tie for 32nd at 148 (+4).
Samuel Boddie posted consecutive rounds of 77 to sit tied for 60th at 154 (+10).
Kourey Patterson is tied for 66th at 162 (+18) after rounds of 83 and 79, while
Parker Sawatzky stands 69th at 179 (+35), shooting 92 and 87.
Host Kennesaw State leads the team standings at 574 (-2) after rounds of 294 and 280. UT Martin is five strokes back in second at 579 (+3), followed by Georgia State at 582 (+6) and Belmont at 583 (+7). Florida A&M and Samford are tied for fifth at 584 (+8).
Jackson holds a four-stroke individual lead at 138 (-6), recording rounds of 68 and 70. Alabama's Michael Crocker, Missouri State's Francesco Petrangeli, Augusta's Nicolas van der Vyver and Florida A&M's Skyler Woods are tied for second at 142 (-2).
