Alabama A&M’s Teddy Bridges Named To 2022 Preseason Black College Nine Elites

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M baseball senior outfielder Teddy Bridges  (Montgomery, Ala.) has been named to the 2022 HBCU Baseball Preseason Elites Projected Players of The Year list as announced by that organization earlier last week.

The list comprises of 52 players from Historically Black College and University (HBCU)  for the upcoming 2022 season. First and second team selections were made for both NCAA Division I and II schools as well the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

Bridges was chosen for this prestigious honor due to his stellar performance during the 2021 season, starting all 29 games and batting a team-high .330 with 17 runs, seven doubles, a pair of homeruns, 14 RBIs, 15 walks. Additionally he was 3-of-18 on the basepaths.

On top of that he manned a near perfect centerfield all season long, committing just one error for a .986 fielding percentage with 71 putouts and had a stretch of 26 straight games without an error.

On the season he produced eight multi-hit games, including a perfect 5-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs, three runs scored with a walk and a steal against Mississippi Valley State (4/17). Bridges also went 3-for-4 with three runs, a pair of doubles, RBI and a walk against rival Alabama State (4/1) and had three steals at Alcorn State (4/23), capping a series in which he swiped six bags.

He also put together a 3-for-5 day against eventual Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Champion Jackson State (5/1) that included two RBIs and another double. That was one of five games with at least two runs driven in over the course of the season.
