HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Playing at home definitely agreed with junior
Felipe Gomez Lopez (Bogota, Columbia) as he led the field on Day 1 of the Alabama A&M Golf Classic with the Bulldogs placing 2-of-11 with a 290 on Monday, October 31.
With play suspended during Round 2 as a result of darkness, Day 1 consisted of just the first 18 holes and Gomez Lopez took full advantage. He fired a sizzling 66 to lead the way while graduate
Jason Johnson (Toledo, Ohio) tied for fifth with a 70. They were joined by sophomore
Juan Ray Gaitan and Niall Bagnall with identical rounds of 77 to tie for 30-of-55.
Lehigh led the day with a 277, followed by A&M, Alabama State (291), Chicago State (294) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (301) to round out the top five.
The tournament will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, November 1 at 7:30 a.m. with the remaining holes of Round 2 and the final 18 holes. Fans can follow live scoring for both the
