Alabama A&M men's basketball is set to close out Elmore Gymnasium as they host Samford on Thursday, November 17 before moving into the new 6.000-seat Event Center later this month.

Alabama A&M Men's Basketball Set To Close Out Elmore With Tilt Against Samford

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – For the final time in its nearly 50-year history, Alabama A&M (0-2, 0-0 SWAC) men's basketball will take to the court in Elmore Gymnasium as they host Samford (3-0, 0-0 SoCon) on Thursday, November 17. Tip-off is slated for approximately 7 p.m. following the completion of the women's contest.
 
The Bulldogs return home following an 87-76 loss to Tennessee State (11/14) and an 84-76 defeat at the hands of North Alabama (11/10). SU comes in with a perfect 3-0 record but all three have been against non-Division I competition in DII Anderson (W, 109-85 on 11/7) and Spring Hill (W, 80-61 on 11/10) and vs. DIII Belhaven (W, 90-38 on 11/12).
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
A&M trails the all-time series 3-1 dating back to an 87-68 loss on November 13, 2017 in Birmingham, Alabama. Samford would take the next meeting by a 77-59 score on December 9, 2018 before A&M claimed a 78-76 decision November 29, 2020. Most recently SU held on for a narrow 52-50 victory on December 11, 2021.

NOTE
The game will mark the end of the program's tenure in Elmore Gymnasium after nearly 50 years as they get set to make the move to the State-of-the-Art Events Center on November 23. Following the game past women's volleyball and men's and women's basketball players who played during the Elmore Era will be recognized.
