HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M (0-0, 0-0 SWAC) men's basketball is set to open the 2022-23 season under new leadership with an exhibition against recent NAIA member and in-town neighbor Oakwood (0-1, 0-0) on Thursday, November 3. That game will be one of the last played in Elmore Gymnasium with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs come in following a season that saw them go 12-18 overall but 10-8 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. That would earn them the No. 4 Seed which they would turn in to a trip the semifinals for the first time since 2014. Oakwood begins a new era as a member of the NAIA and has already begun their regular season, falling to Washington Adventist 80-72 on Saturday, October 29.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Since the 2006-07 season, Alabama A&M and Oakwood have played five times
with the Bulldogs claiming all five. The clubs have not played since a narrow 97-89 victory on November 21, 2015, the closest margin in the series history. Previously A&M notched an 81-61 decision on November 22, 2014, a 70-58 win on December 5, 2013, a 103-77 win on November 20, 2012 and an 84-63 decision in the first meeting on November 27, 2006.
