HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M baseball has announced a 52-game slate that will see them compete against six different conferences as well as a 30-game schedule against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponents.
The Bulldogs will get their season started with three home games against Horizon League member Milwaukee (22-33,17-23 Horizon) on February 18-20 before playing 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Champion UT-Martin (19-29, 10-17 OVC) on February 22.
They will then face Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Tournament finalist Valparaiso (16-35, 9-19 MVC) with two games on February 25 and one on the 27
th. That double headed will begin at 10 a.m. and will consist of a nine inning and a seven inning game. A&M will then travel to American Athletic Conference (AAC) member Memphis (18-39, 13-16 AAC) on March 1.
Three days later the Bulldogs will head to Conference USA foe Alabama-Birmingham (27-29 12-18 C-USA) for three games from March 4-6 before returning home to face off against OVC member Eastern Illinois (25-23, 14-16 OVC). That three game series will run from March 11-13 with the first game being held at Toyota Field, home of the Los Angeles Angels AA affiliate Trash Pandas.
They will stay home to battle NAIA opponent Stillman College (6-22, 4-19 SSAC), on March 15 before making the journey to Itta Bena, Mississippi to take on Mississippi Valley State (0-20, 0-17 SWAC) for three games during March 18-21.
The Bulldogs will then make the return trip to the Skyhawks on March 22 in Martin, Tennessee and then will battle against 2021 SWAC Champion Jackson State (34-9, 24-0) with a home series from March 25-27.
They will then take on Murray State (33-25, 18-12 OVC) on March 30 at Toyota Field before Florida A&M (22-34, 15-13 SWAC) visits the Rocket City from April 1-3. The Bulldogs will then head three hours south to face rival Alabama State (23-19, 14-7 SWAC) from April 8-10.
AAMU will then host SWAC newcomer Bethune-Cookman (6-12, 6-8 MEAC - 2020) from April 14-16 before welcoming NCAA Division II member Lemoyne-Owen (2-10-1, 1-4 SIAC) on April 19. Later that month the Bulldogs will play FAMU in Tallahassee, Florida from April 22-24 before travelling to Murray, Kentucky to battle Murray State on April 26.
The Bulldogs will then enter the State of Mississippi and firstly face off against NAIA member Tougaloo College (4-23, 3-13 GCAC) on April 27 before heading to JSU for three games from April 29-May 1.
Alabama A&M will then face their only Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent, Tennessee (50-18, 20-10 SEC), as they travel to Lindsey Nelson Stadium on May 3.
The Bulldogs will eventually return home and face off against MVSU from May 6-8 before taking the short drive to Florence, Alabama to take on North Alabama (7-40, 5-14 ASUN) on May 10. Up next they will head to Daytona Beach, Florida for a three game series against Bethune-Cookman from May 13-15. Returning to the Rocket City, A&M will host rival Alabama State from May 21-25.
Following the regular season, the top eight teams will then head to the 2022 SWAC Tournament. This year's tournament is scheduled for May 25-27 at Regions Field in Birmingham, Alabama with the league champion earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Tournament staring on June 17.
