JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Alabama A&M men's indoor track & field delivered a strong performance in their one day at the Buccaneer Track & Field Invitational on Friday, February 4, coming away with three Top-10 finishes.
Junior
Nicholas Powell (Montgomery, Alabama) produced one of the more impressive performances on the day as he finished 6-of-67 through the preliminaries of the 400-meters, notching a time of 50.23. With the Bulldogs competing in only the Friday portion of the meet, Powell will not compete in the final and will finish eighth overall.
It would be a similar situation for fellow junior Brandon McClaren (Clifton, Hanover, Jamaica) in the 60-meter hurdles as he placed 3-of-20 through the prelims with a time of 8.41. He will finish 8-of-20 overall, also due to not competing in the finals which are scheduled for Saturday, February 5.
Also delivering a strong performance was junior
Kyle Graham (Mobile, Ala.) as he placed 13-of-67 in the 400-meters with a time of 51.24. Freshman
Keyshawn Johnson rounded out the track portion with an 18
th place finish in that event with a time of 51.56.
The field events would also post strong showings as junior
Isaiah McCaulley (Huntsville, Ala.) went 9-of-40 in the weight throw (14.61m) with senior
Demetrius Hurry II (Foley, Ala.) placing 14
th at 14.13-meters.
The Bulldogs are right back in action when they head back to the Birmingham CrossPlex for the Bulldog Open hosted by Samford on Saturday, February 12.
