MURRAY, Ky. – With the outdoor season now in full swing, Alabama A&M men's track & field posted a number of strong performances on Day 1 of the Margaret Simmons Invitational on Friday, March 25.
Leading those outings was junior
Nicholas Powell (Montgomery, Alabama) who delivered an impressive 5-of-55 performance in the 200-meters, crossing the line in a time of 22.16. In that same event senior
Keyshawn Johnson and junior
Kyle Graham (Mobile, Ala.) crossed nearly simultaneously to finish in 18
th (22.681) and 19
th (22.69).
The field events would carry their weight as well, a contingent led by junior
Brandon McLaren (Clifton, Hanover, Jamaica) with a 12-of-32 finish in the discus (40.60m). He would be joined in that with a 15
th place performance by junior
Isaiah McCaulley (Huntsville, Ala.) as he hit a distance of 39.25-meters. He would also come in 12-of-32 in the hammer (43.39m). In the latter, senior
Demetrius Hurry II (Foley, Ala.) was right behind him in 13
th with a mark of 42.74-meters.
The Bulldogs are right back in action tomorrow, Saturday, March 26 as 14 student-athletes will compete in eight different events on the final day of the Margaret Simmons Invitational.
