MURRAY, Ky. – Junior
Brandon McLaren (Clifton, Hanover, Jamaica) anchored five Top-10 finishes as Alabama A&M men's track & field excelled on the final day of the Margaret Simmons Invitational on Saturday, March 26. As a team, the Bulldogs finished 8-of-23 with 38 points.
McLaren won the javelin over 23 other competitors as he hit a mark of 57.99-meters and placed 2-of-32 in the long jump at 6.99-meters. He was joined by three teammates placing in the Top-10 in the 400-meters.
That group was led by junior
Nicholas Powell (Montgomery, Alabama) with a 3-of-36 finish in a time of 50.30 while junior
Kyle Graham (Mobile, Ala.) was fifth at 51.00. Rounding out that triumvirate was senior
Keyshawn Johnson in ninth at 51.70.
Sophomore
Shawn Guerrier (Miami, Fla.) added to a strong final day, coming in 18-of-54 (11.17) in the 100-meters while fellow sophomore
Jeremy Gresham (Montgomery, Ala.) was 20-of-36 in the 400-meters (54.51) to round out the top competitors.
A&M returns to action next weekend as they return to Kentucky for the Hilltopper Relays from April 1-2. That meet will be hosted by Western Kentucky in Bowling Green.
