Jared Tribett (Lumberton, Miss.) and junior pitcher
Jose Figueroa (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) delivered key performances in a series victory over Jackson State this past weekend for the first time since March, 2019, earning them a sweep of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) honors as announced by the league on Tuesday, March 30.

Tribett was named Hitter of the Week while Figueroa earned Pitcher of the Week honors. The sweep is the first in the program's NCAA Division I history dating back to available records since 2006.

Tribett opened the series against Jackson State on Friday, March 25 going 1-for-3 with a run in the Bulldogs 8-3 victory. He would then return the next day, going 2-for-5 and delivering a home run, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Tribett would save his best for last on Sunday, March 27 as he went 3-for-5 with a home run and an amazing seven RBIs to lead AAMU to a 15-9 victory.

 That closed out the first series victory over JSU since March 10, 2019. Over the course of the weekend he stole a base, hit .462, slugged 1.231 along with two triples and a pair of home runs to drive home seven RBIs.

Jose Figueroa
Figueroa delivered a command performance to get the weekend started right for the Bulldogs on Friday, March 30.

In that start he threw seven innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run, while striking out an impressive seven batters. That performance anchored an 8-3 victory in the opener.

Alabama A&M baseball, alongside Figueroa and Tribett, is back in action on Wednesday, March 30 as they face off against Murray State in a single game. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. at Toyota Field, home of the Los Angeles Angels AA affiliate Rocket City Trash Pandas.
